Software Engineer · Full-Stack Developer

I build software that's solid underneath and a pleasure to use.

Full-stack developer with 3 years shipping SaaS products for UK edtech clients, most recently an AI-powered platform for schools. I'm happiest in the backend, designing the data models, APIs and scalable, reliable systems everything else depends on, and I'm just as picky about how a product looks and feels.

Graduated Provision

Edtech · SEND management for UK schools

SaaS platform for UK schools to manage support, reporting and analysis for students with special educational needs (SEND), handling especially sensitive data.

  • Led the technical design and built about 80% of the platform, with extensive automated test coverage.
  • Integrated LLMs through AWS Bedrock to suggest data and recommended SEND support actions and to generate reporting and analysis, protecting the data with RBAC, audit logging and measures to preserve student anonymity and privacy.

CMS Migration

Edtech · Umbraco to Drupal

Migration and consolidation of an edtech client's websites from Umbraco to Drupal, using Aircury Connector.

  • Designed an end-to-end system to migrate and consolidate several websites from Umbraco to Drupal.
  • Reverse-engineered the source content and built ETL workflows for extraction, transformation and data cleansing in Python (pandas, scikit-learn).

Aircury Connector

Data integration · ETL platform

ETL and data-integration platform for moving and transforming data between systems.

  • Cut development time for new integrations by about 50% with a configuration-driven abstraction for data sourcing.
  • Increased processing throughput up to 8×, with near-linear scaling, by parallelising the data pipeline.
  • Added AI-based information extraction and new data sources, and contributed to a Next.js management interface.

Powermark

Edtech · AI exam grading

AI-powered exam grading used by more than 400 UK schools.

  • Built about 90% of the backend for the initial product, grading exams with LLMs via OpenRouter and refining prompts for accuracy, which reduced manual review and kept operating costs in check.
  • Designed a fault-tolerant architecture with sync APIs and async batch processing with callbacks, sustaining 99.9%+ uptime.

Engineering, amplified by AI

How AI fits into my workflow — and where it does not.

AI is part of how I work every day and a core feature of the products I build. It makes me faster; it never replaces my judgment.

  1. 01RefineTurn fuzzy requirements into clear specs and edge cases before writing code.
  2. 02BuildImplement with coding agents under strict constraints, iterating fast without compromising the architecture or code quality.
  3. 03VerifyAI drafts; I decide. Every change is reviewed, understood and covered by automated tests before it ships.
  4. 04Design for failureTimeouts, retries and fallbacks so AI features degrade gracefully when a model is slow or unavailable, without breaking the product.
  5. 05Ship AI featuresLLM features in production through AWS Bedrock and OpenRouter, with privacy by design: anonymity safeguards and every action traceable.
  6. 06Measure & refineEvaluate the accuracy and cost of AI features on real data, and refine prompts and models to reduce manual review.
